This dialog lets you determine global options to customize Paquet Builder, default settings that will be used each time you start a new project, directories, and folder favorites.

You can access to the Environment Options dialog box by selecting the "Tools|Environment Options" menu command.

General Options

Interface related

Use Zip compression: just decide which compression method should be selected by default in the New project dialog box.
Show Paquet Builder tips at startup: it will display the famous tip of the day each time you start Paquet Builder. Note that you can still see them by using the "Help/Show Tips window" command. Highly recommended of course.
Save my custom dimensions of the navigation panels: if you manually resize the navigation panels then enable this option to ensure these dimensions are saved and then restored when you start Paquet Builder. This option is useful on some systems where the built-in dimensions of the navigation panels cause some options not to be displayed (panels appear too small and hide some links).
Deactivate animation of navigation panels: when you switch from a panel to another one, Paquet Builder simulates the opening/closing of the navigation panels. On some old computers this may take too much time (more than 1 second), so you can disable this animation thanks to this option.
Display the compilation log immediately when building packages: if you want to see the log being filled during the compilation process, then enable this option. To be effective, the display the compilation log after build option should also be enabled.
Do not show automatic update notification messages: indicates whether Paquet Builder should display the update summary when folder-linked components were live-updated.

Behavior related

Include sub-folders: when you add a folder or a source wildcard to the file list, Paquet Builder has two choices: just adding the files from the selected folder, or adding the files from the selected folder and all files from its sub-folders. This operation can be called a "recurrence".
In other words, this option determines whether subdirectories will be traversed to look for more files when adding a wildcard mask or an entire folder.
Remove obsolete or non-existing files during live updates: whether files can be automatically removed from file lists during live-update (synchronization) of components.
File manager: check if a file being added is not already in the list: to prevent doubled files to be compressed, Paquet Builder can check whether a file being added is not already in the file list. If the file is already referenced and if this option is enabled, it will not be added. If you disable this option, you'll gain time when adding a lot of files but you'll need to take care yourself of possible doubled files (which can cause problems when compiling).
Reduce color format of auto-generated bitmaps to 8bpp: when Paquet Builder generates default bitmaps from icons, it will reduce the color format to 8bpp (256 colors indexed). If you use true colors (24-bit or 32-bit) icons, then you can disable this color conversion (to get a better result) but this will make your package bigger. It's better to leave this option enabled.
Automatically update settings when loading an old project (compatibility): enable this option to let Paquet Builder automatically update settings of a project when the latter was created with an older version of Paquet Builder.

Default Settings

First select the default language and icon files that will be used by default each time you create a blank package.
Author Name/Company Name: enter your full name or even your company name.
E-Mail Address: enter your e-mail address where end users can reach you.
Web Address: enter the URL to your Web site.
Default copyright: enter the default copyright information for your packages.

Paquet Builder Working Folder: for end users who do not have enough space in their default temporary folder (generally c:\windows\temp), you can specify the path where Paquet Builder should create its temporary files (especially when compiling projects). This folder will be also used for caching the archive file.
Use Paquet Builder default folders as initial directories: enabling this option will cause Paquet Builder to set the initial directory to its default folders when selecting a resource. For example, the initial directory will always be C:\Program Files\Paquet Builder\Resources (by default) for bitmap, icon, AVI files...
Set the project path as default when loading a project: if your source files like AVI, bitmap, icon, languages, archive files are located in the same path than the project path, enabling this option will let you save the path into the project file and when the project file is loaded, then the initial directories for all open dialogs will be set to this path.

Favorite Folders

The Open and Save shell dialog boxes contain a "My Favorite Paths" button. This button lets you select your favorite paths while you are prompted for determining the filename of a file to open. This tab in the Environment Options lets you organize these favorite paths:

The main list displays all of the favorite paths in the order of their appearance in the "favorite paths" menu list. Under it there are several buttons to add, remove and reorder these favorites:

Add Folder: lets you add a new folder to the list.
Remove: highlight the folder you want to remove and press this button.
Move Up: select a folder and press this button to move it up in the list.
Move Down: select a folder and press this button to move it down in the list.
Clear: after confirmation, causes the entire folder list to be cleared.

Favorites are automatically saved when you close the dialog box.
