Paquet Builder 2026.3 is now available. This is a quality-focused release: the custom action property editor gets a modern overhaul, text now renders crisply on high-DPI displays, and a shutdown crash tied to the built-in Help browser has been fixed. If Paquet Builder is new to you: it is a professional Windows installer builder from G.D.G. Software, in continuous development since 2006. It bundles your application into a single compressed setup executable (or a self-extracting archive) that installs files, creates shortcuts and registry entries, runs your own custom actions, and code-signs the result. You build the whole setup visually in the interface, or from the command line for automated CI/CD pipelines.
A Modernized Action Editor
Custom actions are how you make an installer do more than copy files, and the Action Properties editor is where each one is configured. 2026.3 gives that editor a modern refresh, so everyday setup work is faster and more predictable.
- Real checkboxes for on/off options, so a single click replaces picking True or False from a dropdown.
- An edit button on every text field, putting the full value editor (for inserting variables and resource strings) one click away instead of only on complex fields.
- A keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+Enter, opens that value editor while you are typing in a field.
- The editor now follows the active light or dark theme instead of keeping its own fixed look.
None of this changes what your actions do. It just makes configuring them quicker and more consistent.
Crisp Text on High-DPI Displays
On screens scaled above 100% (the 125% to 200% range common on modern laptops and 4K monitors), some text could appear oversized: links, tab captions, File Manager column headers, and list items. 2026.3 corrects the scaling calculation, so the interface now renders cleanly at every DPI setting.
A Fix for the Shutdown Crash
Closing Paquet Builder after a built-in web view had been used during the session, such as the integrated Help browser, could occasionally cause a crash on exit. The order in which those resources are released has been corrected, and the crash is gone.
