Major Update: XLS Padlock 2025.0 with Multilingual Support & Enhanced Security

Today, we are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for one of our flagship products:
the release of
XLS Padlock 2025!

This major update represents a leap forward, incorporating extensive new features and enhancements driven by user feedback and our commitment to cutting-edge application security and usability. XLS Padlock empowers developers and businesses to protect, license, and distribute their Microsoft Excel workbooks as secure standalone applications, and version 2025 makes this process more versatile and robust than ever.

Here’s a glimpse into what this exciting new version offers:

🌐 Comprehensive Multilingual Capabilities

Understanding the global nature of software distribution, XLS Padlock 2025 breaks down language barriers.

  • Localized Experience: The XLS Padlock development environment can now display its main interface in multiple languages (including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, German, and Arabic to begin with).

  • Smart Detection: The software intelligently detects the user’s Windows language settings to provide a seamless experience, while also offering manual language selection.

  • User-Driven Expansion: We’ve started with key languages and plan to add more based on demand. We encourage users to reach out with requests for additional language support!

📦 Enhanced Deployment Flexibility: New Packaging & Loading

We introduced a new packaging format using 7z compression (same as in 7-Zip) to minimize false positives from some antivirus software. Moreover, the 64-bit loader for universal applications is now a separate, signed file (.bin64), improving compatibility and trust.

🛡️ Strengthening Protection: Security & Signing Advancements

In XLS Padlock 2025, we introduced new code signing features:

  • Modern Signing Support: in addition to traditional code signing features on hardware tokens (or legacy PFX files), XLS Padlock 2025 can now work with Microsoft’s SignTool.exe, facilitating the use of modern code signing certificates, including those stored in the cloud (like Azure Trusted Signing).

  • Security Improvements: We’ve dropped support for outdated SHA-1 signatures and removed UPX compression to align with current security standards and further reduce antivirus false positives.

Numerous Refinements Across the Board

Beyond these major features, XLS Padlock 2025.0 includes a wealth of other improvements, such as UI enhancements for a smoother workflow, better handling of files stored on OneDrive, more robust web update processes, and various bug fixes for increased stability.
